Evangelion Watch Order
''So, Which One is the Real Ending?''
The fandom has more confusion over which one is the real ending instead of the correct watch order. But it doesn't mean there isn't confusion about it. Let's talk then.
Original Evangelion
Evangelion first came out in 1995 and its influence over fandom and pop culture is like no other media.
1. Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995):
Original Evangelion.
1.5. Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion:
Alternate ending of the 1995 series. replaces episode 25 & 26 of the 1995 series. Must watch up to episode 24 of that to watch this.
N.B.: One can watch The Original Evangelion in 2 ways-
- Watch episode 1 to 26 of Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995). This way the film is optional.
- Watch episode 1 to 24 of Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995) and then watch the film. This way the remaining episodes of the 1995 series are optional.
Even though there are two ways of watching, I recommend watching all of them.
Rebuild of Evangelion
A retelling of The Original. Has the same elements as The Original in the part film but it diverts to a completely original storyline and ending.
- Evangelion: 1.0 You are (Not) Alone
- Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance
- Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo
- Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time
N.B.: Yes, technically you can watch just watch the Rebuild Version but I highly recommend watching The Original first.
Also, consider taking a break before watching The Rebuild Version after watching The Original. As The Rebuild Version has the same starting as The Original, it can be boring or annoying is you start The Rebuild Version right after The Original.
